Minor Minutes

Z-String and I attended this evening's club sports council meeting. There are a couple notes about your badminton club that are worth sharing. Here they are:
  • Budget allocations should be revealed to us tomorrow. All clubs had a minimum of 36% cut from their budget request.
  • Starting next school year, physical examinations will likely be required for any student who participates in a club sport. More details will be announced later.
  • Finally, we are coming close to finalizing a design for our club's t-shirt. Stay tuned. These shirts are gonna be hot.

Safety first.

BadmintonAlley.com Chinese New Year Special

BadmintonAlley.com, the club's preferred supplier of equipment and shuttlecocks, has a Chinese New Year's sale continuing until February 9th, 2009. We have just recently placed an order of 60 tubes of shuttlecocks for club and team use.

Be sure to take advantage of lowered prices on racquets, bags, and shuttles.

They are also including a free calendar with any $50 purchase, excluding tax and shipping.

The genesis of "a perfect shuttlecock club".

Just so you know.

Consider this.

A tube of Yonex AS-40 feather shuttlecocks costs $23.95.
With 12 shuttles per tube, each shuttle costs $1.996.

Now, for the purposes of this post, let us suppose that each shuttle lasts a single game.
In this game, the score will be 21-15.
That is a total of 36 rallies.
So, each rally costs $0.055.

Let us assume that each rally consists of an average of 8 hits.
Therefore, every time you swing your racquet, you are costing the club $0.00693.

Correct. 7/10ths of a penny. Just like that.

I hope you appreciate what the club provides for you.
And we appreciate you playing with us.
